. Day 8 - October 26, 2010  - Tuesday:   Nile Cruise - Edfu  (B,L,D)  Our Nile Cruise, Domina Prestige Emilio click4info from Domina Group, is a 5-star vessel. All 72 guest cabins are furnished in modern style including balcony, mini-bar, air conditioning, safety deposit box, satellite TV, shower and hairdryer. Facilities include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, massage, open air gym, hairdresser, gift shop, laundry services, main restaurant, sundeck restaurant and bar, lounge bar, piano bar and internet café. Day 9 - October 27, 2010  - Wednesday:  Nile Cruise - Aswan (B,L,D)  After breakfast on board, we set out by horse-drawn carriage to visit the Temple of Horus (above left for outside click4video good "home video" and inside click4video by tourist), the most perfectly preserved of all the Nile. Temples. Horus also known as Haroeris, was the falcon-headed solar war god. Return to our cruise vessel by carriage and sail to Kom Ombo click4video by TravelStore. Visit the Temple of Sobek (above center and right), the crocodile-headed god of fertility and creator of the world. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where, in ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. Lunch, dinner and overnight on board. Sail to Aswan for overnight.

     . Day 10 - October 28, 2010  - Thursday:  Nile Cruise - Aswan  (B,L,D)  After breakfast on board, we take a tour of Aswan High Dam (above left click4video great dam history), Egypt's contemporary example of building on a monumental scale. Next, proceed to the granite quarries which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples. The quarries still hold the Unfinished Obelisk - see video below, possible intended as a companion to the Lateran Obelisk, originally at Karnak but now in Rome. It would have weighed over 1,100 tons and would have been the worlds' largest piece of stone ever handled. Continue by a short motor-boat ride to the Temple of Philae (above center click4video lively music) on the island of Agilka. The temple was dedicated to Isis, sister/wife of Osiris and patroness of the Ptolemaic rule. In the afternoon, sail click4slides good history relaxing music around Elephantine Island on a felucca, the traditional Egyptian sail boat. Elephantine Island (above right click4video meet the island people) is the largest of the Aswan area islands, and is the site of some of the most ancient remains in Egypt, with artifacts dating to pre-dynastic periods. Elephantine is Greek for Elephant. In ancient times, the island was called Abu or Yabu, which also means elephant. The name may indicate that the island was once a center for the trade of ivory. Continue sailing around Kitchner Island (also known as Lord Kitchner's Botanical Garden, Plant Island, Gizirat al-Nabatat, Plantation Island, or Gizirat al-Bustan). Lord Kitchner moved there after being given the island for his campaigns in the Sudan. He imported plants click4video good tour+KennyGmusic from around the world to create his famous garden. From the river you have a nice view of the Aga Khan Mausoleum, an elegant pink granite structure built in the late 1950's. Return to our Cruise for dinner and overnight in Aswan.

     . Day 11 - October 29, 2010  - Friday:   Abu Simbel and Cairo   (B,D)  After breakfast we will be transferred to Aswan airport for our 9:25 a.m.flight to Abu Simbel on Egypt Air.. We will visit the temples (above left click4video by great BBC tour) which are one of the most prodigious feats of engineering in Egypt. The entire complex of temples was moved to its present location 90 feet above its old site to protect it from the rising water of the Nile when the Aswan Dam was built in the early sixties. After our visit we will fly back to Aswan on Egypt Air, stay on the same plane, and arrive in Cairo at 4:00 p.m. We will be met by our representative and return to the Grand Hyatt Hotel. We will be picked up at 7:00 p.m. for a driving tour of Cairo (above right), passing by Azhar street, the Cairo Tower and the bridge of the 6th of October. Then we will take a felucca ride on the Nile click4video for river ride for an hour, enjoy a typical Egyptian dinner, and return to our hotel for overnight.

  

Day 12 - October 30, 2010 - Saturday: Cairo - Our Free Day (B)   This is our day to explore and see Cairo at its best. Today we can shop at the Bazaars, uncover a superb place to eat or relax at the Hyatt’s penthouse pool

. Day 13 - October 31, 2010  - Sunday:   New York  (B)   Arrive New York at 6:15 a.m. click4video cockpit view of JFK landing. Proceed through US Customs and Immigration. Connect with to our hometown.
