"Wall of Fame" Emails from 52Best Readers Sending Care Packages |
|
* Emails to Sergeant Dan and Friends *
The following are emails that 52Best has received from Readers showing their support to Sergeant Dan and his friends. If you send a Care Package to Sergeant Dan - or any Care Package to our troops - please email me and I will include your email below. For the primary web page for the Care Packages please Click Here
Sergeant Dan from Iraq: We have received quite a few care packages. There were two big shipments of boxes that stand out. One shipment, spread over three days, came from a law firm in Austin, Texas. They sent a lot of boxes with a lot of good stuff in it. Everyone was very appreciative. The other set of boxes came two days ago from Carol Lyle. Carol also sent a family letter with pictures. That was great as it enable us to put a face to our benefactors. Several people will be sending cards and/or emails back to Carol to thank her for the stuff she sent. I keep telling them that you and everyone that has sent packages would like to hear from more people than just me, but it is rough going. We are really busy. I make the time to write these letters but it isn't so easy for others to find the time. Oh boy, another bunch of boxes just came in while I was writing this. I will write again later and tell you what's up.
Cookie from Connecticut: Just to let you know
I sent the CARE package to Dan and his group and it was so much easier
and cheaper than I thought. For those who have not sent a package yet
and are wondering what it involves, it's a quick 3 step process.
Carol from Florida: Just wanted to let you know we have a box ready to go in the mail Monday AM to Sergeant Dan. We boxed up chex mix, trail mix, pringles, tea bags, gum, and breath mints.
Kaye from Kansas: I sent a package to Sergeant Dan too. I pray for our military every day. My oldest son is in the Army and has been for 11 yrs. So he has been deployed several times and enjoys receiving packages when he is over there. Anything we can do to help keep the troops comfortable as possible is great. You are doing a great service by spreading the word. God bless you,
Susan in Colorado: Thank you for all you do for our military!!! I sent 40 DVD's to Sergeant Dan on Tuesday this week.
John in Indiana: WOW! That is great! Could you include Denise from New York. She is the one that donated the movies I won on Bidwell Auction site. Her son-in-law is in Iraq and she thought we were doing a great thing , so she wanted to help out.
Susan in Dallas: I have candy, gum, word puzzles, balls, cigarette lighters, games (checker and chess), dice etc for them and also I have approximately 12 cans of "silly string" that may or may not be objectionable because of the aeresol can - I have heard that they like to use the "silly string" to safely detect landmines and bobby traps.
Helen in Oregon: You can tell Sergeant Dan that he has "gotten the ball rolling in Vida Oregon."
Diana and Glen in Kentucky: I sent a package to Sargeant Dan and friends last week. I want you to know I took our piggy bank money [I put our change in it weekly] and spent it all on a care package for our gauys and girls. Money WELL spent. :)
Jennifer in USA: My stepsons have this next week with us, so I plan on showing the list and having them experience giving (for a change)!!
Stefani in Dallas: I am going to get my stuff this weekend or the first of next week and Jewel and I will prepare and mail it together.
Diane in Florida: I just wanted to let you know that I sent a care package out to the Sgt. Monday of this week with a 1 page letter enclosed. The items sent were about 8 action DVD’s, (both new and previously viewed) toiletries, snack items, and other food stuffs that are non-perishable. I asked him to either write or e-mail me with items that are most needed and I will endeavor to send some things each month.
Ben in Austin: We here at the office are putting 10-15 boxes together. Are there any special items that you know the soldiers would enjoy?
Kate in New Jersey: After reading your story about the Amber Tight band in Iraq, I put out an addendum to a party invite. we're holding a family get-together / send our daughter back to college party on Saturday, 8/11. in the addendum, i requested every person attending to bring an item to donate to a box we will be mailing out to our brave soldiers in Iraq. the response has been great, now to wait and see what donations come in. after the party, we'll go out and buy so we have a good assortment of items. wish us luck!! please keep the stories coming. wishing you an awesome day!! [Kate's 2nd email] just wanted to let you know what will be going out to Dan and the 1st Cav tomorrow: gum, hard candy, lip loob, socks, foot powder, bar soap, hand soap and lotion, hand sanitizing gel, silly string, sun screen, handiwipes and propel powder to add to water bottles. the package weighs about 20-25 lbs, so it's packed full of good stuff we think the guys and gals can use. wish me luck at the post office ~ we might be looking at the 'national debt'!!! LOL it's for a terrific cause, one that touches my heart. have a great night.
Nancie in Texas:
Even though I didn’t send a care package through you I have sent
four in the last 6 months. Our Sunday school class sent to a
member’s son, a group of friends adopted a battalion of Marines
and each of us send to one, my garden club sponsored a battalion
of Marines last Spring and I sent one to a neighbor’s cousin
last month. I think this is happening a lot all through our
great country. People are proud of our troops and they
are supporting them.
Cindy and Family in Oklahoma: My children and I have started putting together a "care package" to send to Sgt. Dan and his band. I was so excited to have a face with a name and address, that we started on it right away. We are including some beef jerky, and some DVD'S, , My daughter and son drew them a picture and included a picture of themselves and are hoping they might respond back to us. Thanks for giving us this opportunity as we want to be supportive, but did not know how. We appreciate you and 52nd Best. God Bless You!!!
Ken and Sharon in Texas: We will be
sending--protein bars, snacks, cards.Blessings and Best Wishes.
Nick in Texas: I thought this might be a nice non-political gesture we could do as a company. Put a box in the break room with suggestions of what's good to send (NOT chocolate-melts!) See link at the bottom of this and scroll to bottom of that for examples.
Susan in Dallas: I will be
gathering items this weekend for a care package. I'll talk
with you early next week, and actually drop them off at your
house. I'll also get other people to donate items.
JO in USA: I will send a care package. My son is a marine who served a year in Iraq too and I know how important those care packages are. And you are right, they are busting their butts for us and the heat is unbearable right now too.
Cookie in Connecticut: Please
keep after all of us with either gentle nudging or guilt
trips, whatever. These ladies and gents deserve a lot more
than CARE packages, but if this helps their morale just a
bit, happy to do it.
Don in Houston: have a brother in law that is serving and although I did not send a package to Sergeant Dan your story did inspire me to send several to my brother in law for distribution among his group. Thanks for the stories.
Cynthia from California: I
am happy to send care packages to Dan - I've been
looking for someone over there that I could contact
to send packages, seems a lot of the local efforts
have dissipated away and I can't find them. I'll get
a package off this week. Thanks for publishing this!
Maria in Texas: My son is in Iraq too and I am sending packages weekly to him and his team at this time. Charlotte in Texas: I am on the
way out the door to purchase items now. I will bundle & box
them, and send tomorrow. I also forwarded the email to
family, friends, and colleagues. Are we to send you an email
, to let you know what we are sending? If so , I will
request from the group. I sent the Following:
Erica in USA: We have a package
on the way, just didn't let you know.....thanks for the great
story and info on how to help our soldiers!!!!
Charlyn in Oklahoma: I will
endeavor to get a care package sent this week and send you an
e-mail of the items I send. Thanks for the reminder!
Dick in Arizona: I'm on the road for several weeks and will send the troops some things. Just need the Iraq address please. [Note: Sergeant Dan's address is at the end of the story and on the Care Package Information web page.]
Maddy
in New York: I will work on getting out a package before I
leave for my business trip next week. I hope that perhaps publishing
the list I sent to you on how to send the package and items to send will
help get more people to do it. [Note: Maddy is the one that sent the
information for the Care Page Information page.]
Russ in Dallas: My son is a Marine jet fighter pilot currently serving in Iraq. So we send Care Packages to Iraq (via his APO box) all the time. Good for you for publishing that story. We definitely need to support our troops!
Susie in Vermont: I will send a total of 9 shirts and journals and a personal note to them all (it looked like there are nine people, is that right and is Dan the one standing a little back on the right, middle row?) [Note: You are correct]
