  Day 1 - November 3, 2012 - Saturday: United States (D)  We will leave from the airport nearest to us on November 3rd on British Airways (or American Airlines) and fly non-stop to London arriving there the morning of November 4th at Heathrow Airport. For Flight Information click here. Our flight across the Atlantic will normally be on the Boeing 777-200 with each of us having our own individual video and audio choices. British Airlines offers an inflght exercise program which you can either get from the flight attendant or you can click here and print it now.

 

        . .Day 2 - November 4, 2012 - Sunday:  Prague, Czech Republic (B,L)  We then take British Airways flight BA856 at 2:50 p.m. to Prague arriving into Prague's Ruzyne International Airport at 5:50 p.m. We are met at the airport by our AmaWaterway's guide and transfer to our 5 star Hilton Prague Old Town Hotel which is a beautiful blend of Art Deco (above right) and modern luxury style with truly outstanding hotel rooms (above center).Our Hilton is located in the centre of Prague .(above left). Its proximity to the oldest parts of the city offers us the opportunity to fully explore the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge. Right outside the hotel we have easy access to public transport and the Prague Central Train Station. In addition the hotel has the extraordinar Zinc Restaurant, complete business facilities, an indoor swimming pool and an extensive fitness center. We are free to explore the city on our own this afternoon and evening.

 

     .. . Day 3 - November 5, 2012  - Monday:  Prague, Czech Republic (B) Our morning’s sightseeing tour reveals why Prague is considered one of Europe’s most attractive cities with its historic city center recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will see Wenceslas Square (above left) and the Metronome overlooking the Vltava River before arriving at the 1,000-year-old Hradcany Castle (above center) for a visit which is said to be the biggest castle in the world at about 570 meters in length and an average of about 130 meters wide. Its history stretches back to the 9th century. Afterwards, we will walk over Charles Bridge to the Old Market Square. This evening, an optional Folklore Dinner Show (above right and click for folk music video) provides us an opportunity to learn about Czech music, dance and traditions.

 

        .. . . Day 4 - November 6, 2012  - Tuesday: Prague, Czech Republic (B)  We spend a day at our leisure or participate in an optional tour to Terezin, the infamous Nazi WWII concentration camp, now a memorial to those who perished. There are many exciting opportunties for us to explore on our own in this beautiful, friendly city. Our guide will be able to refer us to family restaurants "off the beaten path" as well as local pubs to met the Czech people in person. In addition we are adjacent to the Prague Metro (above right) that can take us to everything we would like to visit. For a friendly video guide click "Ten Things You Need to Know and Prague." Interesting. There is also the option of going hot air ballooning while we are in Prague. They have 18 balloons. (above right).

 

       . Day 5 - November 7, 2012  - Wednesday:  Regensburg and Vilshofen, Germany (B,D) This morning we depart Prague and stop in Regensburg (above left) for a guided walking tour of one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities, its Old Town a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch on our own, we continue to the charming 1200-year-old Bavarian town of Vilshofen with not only centuries old building but beautiful parks (above center), where we will embark your luxurious ship. This afternoon, we will celebrate a very special “Oktoberfest,” (above right) specially created for AmaWaterway's passengers by the town of Vilshofen. Bavarian folk music (for music video), song and dance (for dance video) set a lively scene as we gather at long tables to sample Vilshofen’s distinctive local beer and traditional pretzels.

Day 6 - November 8, 2012 - Thursday:  Vlshofen and Passau, Germany (B,L,D) This morning we are free to explore Vilshofen’s beautiful old town before we cruise to Passau, where this afternoon we will have our choice of two different excursions. The first option is to take a walking tour through this 2,000-year-old fairy tale city (above left), noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. Walk the cobblestone streets of the Old Town where we will see the city fortifications and St. Stephan’s Cathedral, which is home to the largest cathedral organ in the world (above right - click for video with organ music); after our city tour, we enjoy a tasting of regional German wines in town. As an alternative, we can experience this majestic city on a guided bike tour along the Inn River to Weinstein (capacity controlled).
